Education and Background

Joshua received his undergraduate degree from The University of Texas at Austin, graduating with Special Honors in Psychology. He worked for approximately 12 years in the field of pharmaceutical-sponsored clinical research investigating new treatments for psychiatric disorders before returning for his graduate studies. He received his Master of Science in Nursing degree from The University of Texas at Austin. During graduate training, Joshua completed clinical rotations through several area hospitals and clinics.

Joshua is licensed in the state of Texas as a Registered Nurse (RN) and an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) with prescriptive authority. He is also nationally board certified as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC). He has worked as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner at several psychiatric hospitals in Central Texas.

He continues this work, assessing and treating patients both in an inpatient psychiatric hospital and enrolled in an Intensive Outpatient Program. Joshua has experience working with adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients. He has also worked with patients with substance use disorders, including inpatient detox.

Approach to Care

Joshua recognizes that seeking treatment for a mental health concern can be anxiety-provoking. He strives to create a welcoming and inclusive environment in order to help patients through these difficult times.

Working within a person-centered model of care, Joshua understands that a person is much more than a diagnosis. Therefore, he believes that treatment involves treating the whole person, not just an illness. In line with this philosophy, Joshua’s professional practice is not only LGBTQ+ inclusive, it is also LGBTQ+ affirming. Joshua believes that change is a dynamic process and requires you to be an active participant in your own treatment.

He utilizes current practice guidelines and evidence-based treatments in his care. Joshua values the importance of individual and group therapy and will work closely with your therapist to coordinate care, or make appropriate therapy referrals as necessary.

Joshua has experience in the treatment of depression, anxiety, bipolar disorders, schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder, neurocognitive disorders, and substance use disorders.

Joshua is currently accepting patients ages 18 and over.
